BookLens Helps Parents ID Inappropriate Material in Children’s Books

November 5, 2025

In response to the unhealthy, and sexually explicit literature being shelved in libraries across our nation, Daviess County Citizens for Decency (DCC4D) is pleased to announce the launch of BookLens.

BookLens is a web app designed to help parents who want the benefits offered by our libraries without the dangers. And the best part is it’s absolutely free.

By using BookLens to scan the ISBN barcode on the back of any book, you can know immediately what, if any, inappropriate text can be found in your child’s book selection.

You’ll know what it’s been rated by trusted rating systems like RatedBooks.org, Compass Book Ratings, and Bruce’s List.

Additionally, as we continue to expand our database, you can find age appropriate, grade level reading, as recommended by Freedom in Education and other reputable sources. You can finally find books that your children will enjoy, and you don’t have to worry about.

Parents can once again make informed decisions about their child’s reading materials with BookLens.
